Press Release, June 6, 2017 (Brno, CZ)
International promotional cycling, which is part of the Czech-Austrian project "Culture and Nature on the Green Belt" supported by the Interreg VA Austria-Czech Republic program, took place from 20 to 27 May between South Bohemian Higher Brod and Lower Austrian Schloss Hof with the participation of a 30-year-old peloton according to the planned itinerary. A group of Czech and Austrian cyclists, in particular, traveled on a 570 km weekend journey with a height elevation of almost 6000m.
There have been 12 meetings with local partners from tourist organizations, municipalities and non-profit organizations and 10 visits to tourist destinations in the Green Belt Corridor. Photo and video documentation were taken from the road. The promotional ride was an impressive example of the historical and natural richness of the EuroVelo 13 and the European Green Belt, from unique historical objects and complexes to places of contemporary interpretation of the political history of this corridor to natural sites or village architecture. At the same time, the ride enabled a comparison of the quality of service on the Czech and Austrian sides and a survey of the technical condition of the route throughout the length traveled from the wheel seat.
